Serum Lipid Changes Following the Stroke

Abstract
In order to study the effects of oriental medical treatments on serum lipid in 45 stroke patients (30 cerebral infarction patients, 15 intracerebral hemorrhage patients), serum lipid levels were measured at admission and again at 4-week after.
@ES The results were as follows;
@EN 1) In the case of cerebral infarction, the level of serum total cholesterol was decreased significantly in the 5th decade (p<0.05).
2) In the case of cerebral infarction, the level of LDL-cholesterol was decreased significantly in the 5th decade (p<0.05).
3) In the case of intracerebral hemorrhage, the level of serum total cholesterol was decreased without sifnificance.
4) In the case of intracerebral hemorrhage, the level of serum LDL-cholesterol was decreased without sifnificance.
According to the above results, oriental medical treatment had significant decreasing effects on serum total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol in the case of intracerebral infarction. And it is considered that oriental medical treatment could be
applied
for reducing risk factor of atherosclerotic change on cerebral arteries.
